Medical Office Assistants

Practice Support Program » About Learning Modules » Medical Office Assistants

In today’s changing health care environment, the role of Medical Office Assistants (MOAs) is more important than ever. Practice improvements are necessary to accommodate an aging population and the associated increase in chronic disease management. MOAs can help initiate and implement both administrative and clinical practice improvements.

The Understanding Quality Improvement Practice Guide, in combination with the Enhancing the MOA's Role Practice Guide and the Practice Self-Assessment Questionnaire, provides a strong base for improving the overall effectiveness of a clinical practice.

MOAs are integral team members in any practice. Most MOAs can likely suggest ways of streamlining or changing their current workload to use their time more productively. Practices involved in redesign can benefit significantly by evolving the role of their MOA to eliminate inefficiencies and create smoother workflows in the practice.
