Practice Support Program - Learning Modules

Practice Support Program » About Learning Modules

The Practice Support Program provides BC physicians and their Clinical staff a menu of options depending on their needs. Practices can select from a “menu” of services appropriate for their needs and local priorities.

It is helpful to begin with the Understanding Quality Improvement Practice Guide, the Evolving the MOA’s Role Practice Guide and the Practice Self-Assessment Questionnaire. This combination provides a solid introduction to the series of learning modules available to support changes to Clinical practices.

Learning Modules

INTRODUCTORY:  Learn the basic knowledge and skills required to improve a Clinical practice.

  • Quality Improvement

Use evidence-based techniques for creating and measuring sustainable change that will enhance the efficiency of a practice and enable staff to provide better care for patients.

  • The Role of the Medical Office Assistant (MOA)

Expand the MOA's role in initiating and implementing administrative and Clinical practice improvements. This will enhance staff member skills, improve patient outcomes, and promote job satisfaction for everyone - without overworking or pressuring anyone.

  • Practice Self- Assessment

Use either a short introductory or an in-depth self assessment questionnaire to identify practice needs, goals, and priorities for enhancements.

PRACTICE MANAGEMENT:  Learn ways to improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of a Clinical practice.

  • Advanced Access

Schedule patients so they see the physician when they need to and at a time that is convenient to them.

Clinical

  • Chronic Disease Management: Learn how to optimize effectiveness by implementing the 5 key building blocks for managing care of patients with chronic diseases:

  • Patient Registries

Identify patients with chronic conditions.

  • CDM Toolkit

Track progress and patient outcomes using Electronic Medical Records (EMRs).

  • Planned Recall

Monitor the care provided and become more proactive based on the Clinical guidelines.

  • Group Visits

Provide care, education and advice in a group setting. This is efficient for the practice and offers patients with chronic conditions the opportunity to learn from and share experiences with others.

  • Patient Self-Management
Introduce patient self-management to help patients set and work toward their own health goals.
