ImpactBC is supporting the Division by building their capacity to design and implement change initiatives using QI methodology, with the goal of improving the satisfaction of patients and health care professionals.
A holistic health screening program that integrates both cardiovascular risk factors and risks for depression and anxiety. Developed in partnership with the BC division of the Canadian Mental Health Association.
Patient Journey Mapping is a technique used to illustrate the experience of a patient navigating the health care system. ImpactBC has been contracted by the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) to educate five communities in the lower mainland on the proper use of this tool, in order to identify inconsistencies in care and ways to address them. Under the Patients as Partners initiative we continue to spread the “train the trainer” approach in mapping the patient and caregiver journey in areas throughout BC.
A major initiative of the General Practice Services Committee, developed to provide change management support for office-based practice and clinical redesign efforts. ImpactBC (in collaboration with PSP Central) provides support for the regional support teams, and supports QI methodology in PSP learning modules, as well as the patient voice in improvement.
A province-wide initiative to identify and provide early relevant treatment for people with HIV/AIDS. The collaborative is coached and facilitated by ImpactBC, and led by the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS.
ImpactBC partners with BC health authorities to embed quality improvement in integrated primary and community care, as well as other areas of system transformation, in order to better meet the needs of frail seniors and patients with chronic, mental health, or substance use conditions.

Impact has been invited by Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) Mental Health and Addiction Services (MHAS) to co-develop and test change initiatives focused on improving service quality and patient and provider experience with Mental Health and Addiction Services in the South Island at a cost that aligns with the current fiscal restraints.

ImpactBC supported the Heart Program for Women to evaluate the effectiveness of group medical visits with and without the addition of a peer coaching component to improve outcomes and satisfaction in women with post-partum gestational diabetes.
A 90 day research and development project focusing on the patient journey viewed from the patient perspective could be used to design a framework for the creation of coalitions to reduce avoidable emergency department visits.
